Corruption Has Spread Like Cancer And We Need Chemotherapy: Sunny Deol

Parag Maniar

To mark Sunny Deol’s birthday on October 19, the makers of Singh Saab The Great, directed by Anil Sharma, released a special patriotic track. Called Bali Hamesha Bakri Ki Di Jaati Hai Sher Ki Nahin, the song has Sunny say the dialogue, “Saade wich thoda Gandhi bhi, (Sardar) Patel bhi, Bhagat Singh bhi.”
Sonu Nigam has composed the music for this number, which also unveils the look of the film’s heroine, ex-Miss India Urvashi Rautela. The starcast includes Amrita Rao, Prakash Raj, Johnny Lever and Anjali Abrol and the story talks of a principled man’s fight against corruption.
Telling us about the song’s relevance in the film, Sunny says, “The song portrays reality and the happenings around us. Though the song just gives a peek into the story, it shows the importance of family values and relationships between the wife and her husband, brother and sister and the values that one needs to imbibe as an individual.”
The actor adds, “Corruption has spread like cancer and we need chemotherapy. The sad part is that we blame others and never take the onus, but the change has to begin with ourselves. If we voice something, we have to stick to it no matter what.”
The song also features Sunny in high-octane action sequences. “The action I have done has always been larger-than-life, but realistic. I am fighting for a cause, there is strong emotion behind it, thus even a mere punch makes an impact. It gives vent to suppressed frustration.”
Sharma says, “The song is our birthday gift to Sunny. It carries the gist of what our film is about.”
Singh Saab The Great, presented by Jayantilal Gada (PEN), produced by Sangeeta Ahir (Alumbra Entertainment and Media Pvt Ltd) and Anuj Sharma (Shantketan Entertainment) and co-produced by Kushal Kantilal Gada, Dhaval Gada and Reshmaa Kadakia, releases November 22.
