Affixing drywall to refrigerator with cabinets on top

I'm renovating my kitchen and have a 36" fridge and 18" pantry cabinet being installed against a 55" wall. I thought it would be nice to drywall both sides so it looks built-in but the contractor said the fridge side would be wobbly since there is nothing to secure the sheetrock to.
