Title: Source for wood wall panels for bathroom
Post by: nm on September 04, 2022, 11:39:59 pm
We had a designer design our primary bathroom to have Ipe wood walls (horizontal, like wooden rainscreen on home exteriors). We like the look, but have not been able to figure out where to buy material. Ipe specifically is very expensive, and anyway our contractor really doesn't want to stain and seal individual boards. The designer hasn't provided any advice other than to buy wood and put it on the walls, or use wood look tile (I'd prefer not to do either). Does anyone know of a source for this type of material? Ipe or teak look paneling that isn't $35/sq ft and can be used inside in a bathroom where there is moisture? Can I use exterior rainscreen indoors?

“Anyone who says I have such-and-such model that's 15/20/25/30 years old is irrelevant to a new unit bought today.”

Agree 100%! You simply cannot compare the old and new.

When our 25-yr-old Kenmore garage fridge died I did not look at any certain brand for replacement. I considered features (wanted simple) and size, period. It happened to be a Frigidaire, and I certainly don’t expect anything close to 25 years from it.
