Prue Leith is owning up to The Great British Bake Off's mistakes.

After the Netflix series faced criticism for throwing a Mexican-themed week during its 10th Collection, Leith spoke out about the controversy.

"There would have been absolutely no intention to offend," she who judges the show alongside Paul Hollywood, told The New Yorker in a feature published Oct. 23. "That's not the spirit of the show."

Leith noted that the judges are the ones who set the week's challenges, which, during Mexican Week, included pan dulce, tacos and tres leches cake. Fans in particular took issue with the tacos challenge, which required minimal baking and produced cringe-worthy moments like one apparent vegetable faux pas.

"This lady is peeling her avocado like it's a potato," one person tweeted. "This show is off the rails. #GBBO"

Other criticism of the episode included use of visual stereotypes like sarapes and sombreros and mispronunciations of dishes. There was also backlash to hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding quipping that they should stay away "Mexican jokes" to risk offending people—"not even juan."

Machine Gun Kelly came ready to slay.

The "Bloody Valentine" singer looked ready for battle as he walked the red carpet at TIME 100 Next Gala in New York City on Oct. 25. In a punk rocker-meets-warrior moment, Kelly showed off a tough look which included a sheer, caged body corset across his tattooed chest, long leather sleeves with built-in-gloves and black leather pants. He accessorized with a chained choker necklace and pointed-toe ankle boots. (See every star at the TIME 100 Next Gala here)

On top, the musician swept his platinum blonde hair into a man bun which gave off serious Targaryen family vibes. (House of the Dragon fans, IYKYK.)

Kelly, real name Colson Baker, was joined at the event by his fiancée Megan Fox who debuted an epic hair transformation of her own. The Jennifer's Body star swapped her signature dark locks for Ariel-esque red, which she styled down and with a center part. Her new do' was worn with a bombshell ensemble which included a gold strapless gown from Maison Yeya, featuring a dangerously high slit, strappy metallic sandals, a box clutch and a deep magenta lip.

Lindsay Arnold can remember the moment she finally let out the breathe she hadn't realized she'd been holding.

After months of trying for her second child with husband of seven years, Sam Cusick, and weeks of what she calls "cautious, cautious optimism," following a positive test, the Utah-based pair turned up to that all-important first OB-GYN appointment feeling, admittedly, more than a bit nervous.

Then, "we got to do our first ultrasound and got to hear our baby's heartbeat," the pregnant Dancing With the Stars pro revealed in an exclusive interview with E! News. "And it's honestly the best feeling in the world."

She actually wasn't sure if it would feel quite as magical as when she was expecting now-23-month-old daughter Sage, "because it's not the first time," she explained of the baby she'll welcome next May, "but, truly, there is nothing quite like the confirmation that you have life inside of your body. That's just the coolest thing that you could ever experience."

One fine day, George Clooney proposed to Amal Clooney—and it didn't go as planned.

The ER actor recently recalled the moment he popped the question to wife Amal. But it wasn't exactly smooth sailing. As George put it in an Oct. 21 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, "It was a disaster."

As the 61-year-old explained, his plan of action was to have Amal discover the ring at dinner while music from his aunt Rosemary Clooney played. As soon as the tune began, George prompted Amal to reach for a box containing a lighter to re-light a candle he conveniently blew out.

"I go, 'I think there's a lighter, could re-light the candle…I think there's a lighter in that little box,'" George recalled, "And she pulls this thing out, this little drawer, and there's a diamond ring in there."

So, how did Amal react? Well, per George's impression, it didn't click right away. "She looks at it and she's like, 'There's a ring in there,'" he joked while rolling his eyes. "Like somebody left a ring there years ago"

Tom Brady has intercepted those retirement rumors.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, 45, addressed speculation that he'll be stepping off the field once again, making it clear during a on Oct. 20 press conference shared to the team's Instagram page that he has no intention to do so for the rest of the season. "I love the sport, I love the teammates, and I want to go do a good job for this team like I always have," Brady said. "So, no retirement in my future."

The rumors first started when former Buccaneers QB Chris Simms theorized that the Super Bowl champion could end up leaving the NFL mid-season due to circumstances in his personal life—such as recent chatter surrounding a potential split with his wife of 13 years, Gisele Bündchen.

"This is the one year I feel maybe it might be Brady," he said during an Oct. 18 episode of NBC's Pro Football Talk Live, adding that "this is a weird year where we're seeing Brady do weird crap and having personal issues."

Even a superhero needs some TLC.

On a break from filming her Marvel movie Madame Web, Dakota Johnson hit a Malibu beach for a sweet stroll with boyfriend Chris Martin.

For their casual outing, the actress layered up in a white tank, cream sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. Meanwhile, he matched her chill vibe, dressing in blue sweatpants and a light blue shirt, which featured an outline of a bear. To complete the look, Chris donned a navy hat that read "Love," a nod to the non-profit Love Button which promotes global wellness.

The couple were also joined by a special guest: Dakota's dog Zeppelin.

This outing comes two weeks after Coldplay postponed their Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo concerts until early 2023 as Chris recovered from a "serious lung infection."

"We're working as fast as possible to lock in the new dates and will follow up with more information in the next few days," Coldplay shared on Instagram Oct. 4. "We're so grateful for your understanding at this challenging time where we need to prioritize Chris' health."

On this night, there wasn't a dry eye in the ballroom.

The Oct. 17 episode of Dancing With the Stars brought the end of the road for the season's most inspiring performer—and one last dance.

As Selma Blair, who had been competing on the show following her MS diagnosis in 2018, entered the rehearsal studio to prepare for her routine with partner Sasha Farber, she had some difficult news to break.

"You know I've been monitored and in touch with my doctors this whole process," Selma told Sasha. "I had these MRIs. The results came back and it all just adds up to that I can't go on with the competition. I pushed as far as I could."

Selma explained that if she continued, she would risk extensive damage to her body, but vowed to use it as a learning experience for her 11-year-old son Arthur, telling Sasha, "I'll have to settle in and get back to being a mom and showing him I have to pull back on something that I love doing and sometimes you make hard decisions."

Not to be deterred, however, Selma said, "I really want to have one last beautiful dance with you."

And that's exactly what she did.

Set to "What the World Needs Now," Selma and Sasha danced a gorgeous waltz that brought the ballroom to its feet and practically every person inside the ballroom reaching for the nearest tissue.

YouTuber Oli London said he is detransitioning to a man after spending the last six months living as a Korean woman.

The influencer told E! News that though he was "temporarily satisfied" with who he was in the past, he realized he no longer wanted to "change and go through my transition anymore." The 32-year-old said in the statement that he is "detransitioning back to male," and his Instagram bio now lists his pronouns as he/him.

"I have taken some time to truly reflect on being a woman and have realized it is simply not for me," London shared with E! News. "However beautiful I felt with long hair and more feminine features I now want to go back to being my original self—a biological man."

He said he was going to travel to Bangkok, Thailand soon to "undergo genital reassignment surgery and get breast implants as well as more facial surgery to become a 100% Korean woman," aiming to base his look on K-Pop singer Rosé from Blackpink.

General Discussion / Kiely Rodni’s Cause of Death Revealed
« on: October 14, 2022, 05:05:09 am »
More details are coming to light in the case of teenager Kiely Rodni.

The 16-year-old went missing on the night of Aug. 16 on her way home from a high school graduation party near Truckee, Calif. A car was found submerged in the Prosser Creek Reservoir and the body inside it was positively identified to be the missing teen on Aug. 21, police said in a press conference, as E! News previously reported.

Now, the Nevada County, Calif. coroner's office has released the young girl's cause of death.

In the official documents obtained by E! News on Oct. 13, the coroner's office revealed that she "drowned in lake while in her vehicle." Her manner of death was ruled accidental.

Kiely was last heard from around 12:30am on the day she went missing when she texted her mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, to let her know she was on her way home, according to authorities. When she failed to arrive, the authorities were contacted and a search began to locate her.

It took more than two weeks to find Kiely.

What's the opposite of Bazinga?

In a new oral history of The Big Bang Theory, which ran on CBS for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019, the cast and crew of the hit sitcom—including stars Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar and creator Chuck Lorre—reflected back on Jim Parsons' surprising decision to leave the show.

"I was shocked. We were just blindsided that day," Johnny, who played Leonard Hofstadter, said, according to People. "And not necessarily shocked by Jim's decision, but that he hadn't had that conversation with his castmates first to prepare us. So yes, it could have been handled better. We're a family; have a conversation. And I don't even disagree with how Jim felt, because in many ways, I felt the same way. I just disagreed with how it was managed."

Johnny said it was gut-wrenching to see his fellow castmates "emotionally crumble" at the news, which was a memory echoed by his boss.

"There was a lot of crying in the room—Kaley, in particular," Lorre recalled. "It was a blow. And there was no way to soften it by giving them a heads-up. I didn't know any other way to do it."

Life is for living, you know, so Anna Delvey (a.k.a Anna Sorokin) is going to live it.

On Oct. 11, the 31-year-old, whose fake heiress persona and legal troubles became the subject of Netflix's Inventing Anna, stepped out in New York City apartment for a court appointment.

In true socialite fashion, Anna was dressed to impress in a stylish black trench coat, matching trousers and strappy heels. She completed her look with oversized sunglasses and a scarf—interestingly monogramed with the initials of her infamous alias—wrapped around her head.

Anna's outing comes just days after her release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, where she spent more than a year behind bars for overstaying her visa. In a statement to E! News, her attorney John Sandweg confirmed that a judge "recognized that immigration detention was no longer necessary for Anna," though the ruling "does not mean that Anna will get a free pass" as she'll be under house arrest.

Even Mona Lisa would be smiling about Zendaya and Tom Holland's latest date.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home costars enjoyed a weekend in the city of love as the pair was photographed at the Louvre museum in Paris, holding hands during an art tour. Tom, 26, donned a black and white striped sweater as Zendaya, also 26, wore a baby blue dress and a pair of glasses.

Their trip comes a month after the actress nabbed her Emmy win for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Euphoria. While Tom wasn't on-hand to celebrate, Zendaya told E!'s Tim Kash how she included him in the exciting moment. "Well, I didn't have to text my mom because my mom was already there, she's here tonight, which is very special," she explained on Sept. 12, of who she talked to first. "And I texted my boyfriend."

Just a few weeks before the Emmys, Zendaya and the Uncharted actor were in New York City to celebrate the Malcolm & Marie star's birthday. On Sept. 1, they hit MAMO restaurant for her special day, followed by a casual coffee date the next morning.

Twitter locked rapper Kanye West’s Twitter account over an antisemitic tweet posted on the account on Saturday.

In the since-removed tweet, West said he was “going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE,” and also that, “You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” without specifying what group he was addressing, according to internet archive records pulled by CNN.

A spokesperson from Twitter confirmed to CNN that the account was locked for violating Twitter’s policies. The tweet has been replaced on the account by a message from the company saying, “This tweet violated the Twitter Rules.”

Lala Kent might be bringing the phrase "my man" out of retirement.

One year after her split from fiancé Randall Emmett, the Vanderpump Rules star shared a happy update from life on the dating scene.

"I think I might be in love with someone," she teased during an Oct. 7 appearance on SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live. "He's a local. My friend's been trying to hook me up with him for a long time and we finally met. We hung out literally that was the third time."

As for how the date went? Lala shared, "We had a lot of fun."

The Bravo personality added that those 10/10 looks on her potential new boo don't hurt either.

"I saw him very quickly. I was just like, ‘Oh my god,'" the 32-year-old shared. "When the face hits right, it's like game over. "

However, his face isn't the only part of him that has Lala hooked, sharing, "I love his brain. He's very smart. And his face doesn't match what comes out of his mouth."
