It’s Navratri and garba time. Nine days are filled with fervor, dance, music and masti.
It’s that time of the year when the sounds of dhol and the clapping of dandiya sticks get you groovy. People dress up in colourful desi attires to experience the fervor of this festival. Even our TV actors take time out from their busy work schedules to enjoy this festive season. So let’s ask them how they are celebrating Navratri this year. Read on…

Drashti Dhami: Navratri is my most favourite festival in the entire year. I love the music and dance that is such an integral part of the celebrations. This year, I will be unable to celebrate Navratri on a large scale as I normally do because I will be shooting. However, I will partake in the celebrations with my family and friends whenever time permits.

Jay Soni: Being a Gujarati, Navratri holds a very special place in my heart. Every year, I eagerly wait for the festival to kick-off so that I can indulge in garba and dandiya. This year Navratri is extra special for me because it also marks the beginning of the second-innings of Sanskaar.

Disha Vakani: When it comes to garba, like Dayaben (in Taarak Mehta), in real life also I love playing garba. Being a Gujarati I know the importance of this festival and we make sure to celebrate it in a grand way. Like every year this year also we are going to perform garba on the sets and if I get time from my shooting and other work I will make sure to shake my leg in nearest Navratri celebration venues. Since my childhood I am fond of wearing ghagra choli with lovely jewellery. So all my lovely fans get out of your houses and enjoy this festival. Happy Navratri!!!

Siddharth Shukla: I like the festive spirit and aura that prevail throughout the city during Navratri. People start preparing from months before for this nine-day long celebration. Recently, I happened to be in Ahmedabad and was mesmerized by the upbeat environment and everybody around was engrossed in the preparations to welcome this festival.

Disha Parmar: First of all Happy Navratri to all my fans. During school days I used to participate in garba dance but never went to play at any Navratri venue. But this year I want to go and play garba and dandiya. I must say Mumbai’s Navratri is just out of the world. Good to see lights flickering all around, boys and girls dressed in beautiful desi attire enjoying the moment. It’s totally different and amazing.

Sharad Kelkar: I simply love the festival of Navratri. During my Ram-Leela shooting (Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film) I played garba with my entire cast and crew. I used to think that garba’s a very easy dance form but I was wrong. It looks very simple and but it’s very difficult to perform. I am glad I know few steps now and I would definitely go one of the days to play garba.
