Moisture is Magic
Dry skin craves moisture like we crave new shades of fave lipsticks. Which is to say, a LOT. This is especially so after certain activities - outdoor sports or even your daily cleanser can leave your skin feeling itchy and tight. Make sure your skincare regime includes cream-based moisturisers with ingredients like fatty acids and hyaluronic acid (which draw and lock moisture into your skin), as well as emollients like ceramides (which work to repair your skin’s barrier and decrease irritation).
Stay Toned
Traditional toners were astringent, alcohol-based and just plain bad news for dry skin, because they would just make skin even thirstier than before. Thankfully, we live in a time of enlightened options aka moisturising toners. Choose gentle toners that are (duh) alcohol-free, with hydration-supporting ingredients like rosewater and hyaluronic acid, or soothing and refreshing ingredients like vitamin E, chamomile and aloe.
Serious Serums
If you’ve tweaked your skincare routine endlessly but still find yourself harassed by a drought-level complexion, adding a good serum to your lineup might be what makes a difference. That’s because serums are powerhouses that are far more effective at penetrating skin compared to moisturisers, due to their smaller molecular composition. That doesn’t mean you should replace one with the other - rather, think of it as the serum working to boost the hydrating powers of your moisturiser, drawing in moisture so your creams can lock that moisture in.
